Summary

  • Your tier, shown on your order, sets who may use the Paid Edition: one named reader, a named team, everyone in your organization, or your organization and named affiliates with external-use rights.
  • Read, download, print and use it for your work, within your tier.
  • Do not share the file outside your tier or post it publicly.
  • Cite findings and quote short passages, with credit, in your own papers, theses, articles, teaching slides, talks and other works.
  • Single Reader and Team licences allow one chart or table in a non-public presentation. Organization and Enterprise licences allow charts and tables in internal materials. External chart use needs an Enterprise licence or written permission.
  • No AI training. AI tools are allowed only as section 8 describes.
  • This licence does not limit fair use, fair dealing or other quotation rights.

This summary is for convenience. The terms below control.

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between WomenTech LLC ("WomenTech", "we", "us") and the customer named in the Order ("you"). You accept them by ticking the acceptance box at checkout, by signing an order form that refers to them, or by downloading or using the Paid Edition. If you accept for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it. A Licensed Reader named in an Order must also follow these terms.

2. Definitions

  • Order: the checkout record or signed order form that states your tier, the Licensed Readers or Organization, the price and any term. The price is set in the Order, not in these terms.
  • Licensed Materials: the Paid Edition as delivered for your Order, including any companion files delivered with it (such as data tables) and any correction or replacement file for the 2026 edition. They do not include the Public Materials, the Community Edition, raw survey data, Respondent Quotations or third-party material.
  • Licensed Reader: an individual named in the Order, or later under section 5, for a Single Reader or Team licence.
  • Organization: the one legal entity named in the Order, such as a company, university, research institute, think tank, nonprofit or public body. Affiliates are included only when an Enterprise Order names them.
  • Authorized Users: the Organization's employees, and the individual contractors and temporary staff working for it, while they do so.
  • Internal Use: use within the Organization for its own purposes, in a way that does not make the Licensed Materials visible or available to anyone outside it.
  • External Use: use in anything published or provided to people outside the Organization, such as clients, candidates, investors, partners, the press or the public.
  • Non-Public Presentation: a meeting, class, workshop or briefing for a limited audience, where the slides and any recording are shared only with that audience and are not published or posted publicly.
  • Private AI Tool: an AI assistant, tool or retrieval system that may not train on your inputs, use them for its provider's own purposes or disclose them to others, and that only people within your tier can access.
  • Respondent Quotation: text written by a survey respondent and reproduced word for word, wherever it appears, including on the landing page.
  • Public Materials: the public landing page at https://womenaibuilders.org/state-of-women-in-ai-2026 and the social graphics that WomenTech labels for sharing.
  • Community Edition: the edition of the report for individuals and communities, governed by the Community Edition Terms at https://womenaibuilders.org/state-of-women-in-ai-2026/community-terms.

3. Licence tiers

Your Order states your tier. Every tier includes the rights in section 4.

TierWho may use the Licensed MaterialsWhere they may be keptTerm
Single ReaderOne Licensed ReaderDevices and accounts the Licensed Reader controlsContinuing
TeamUp to five Licensed Readers in one Organization, unless the Order states another numberThe readers' own devices and accounts, and a folder or channel that only they can openContinuing
OrganizationAll Authorized Users of the OrganizationInternal systems open only to Authorized Users, such as an intranet, shared drive, learning system or knowledge baseContinuing
Enterprise (external use)All Authorized Users of the Organization and of the affiliates named in the OrderAs for Organization, across those affiliatesContinuing for Internal Use; External Use for 12 months from the Order date unless the Order states otherwise

"Continuing" means for as long as you follow these terms, for the 2026 edition.

3.1 Single Reader

A Single Reader licence is for one individual's own professional, academic or personal use, including use by a student or an independent researcher. The Licensed Reader may cite and quote the Paid Edition under section 6, for example in research papers, theses, articles, teaching slides and conference talks.

If you bought a Single Reader licence for yourself, it is personal and stays with you if you change employer. If an organization paid for it, that organization may reassign it under section 5.

3.2 Team

Each Licensed Reader on a Team licence has the rights of a Single Reader. The team may also keep the Licensed Materials in a shared folder or channel that only its Licensed Readers can open.

3.3 Organization

We deliver one file stamped with the Organization's name. Authorized Users may copy and share it inside the Organization, including on its intranet, shared drives, internal learning systems and knowledge bases, if access is limited to Authorized Users. They may use complete charts and tables in internal materials, such as presentations, training and internal reports, with the credit in section 6.2.

For a university or other academic institution, the Organization is the whole institution named in the Order, and its Authorized Users are its faculty, researchers and other staff. Students are Authorized Users only while they are employed by the institution. Making the Paid Edition available to students, or through a library, e-reserve, course page or learning system open to students, needs a library and course licence (section 10).

3.4 Enterprise (external use)

An Enterprise licence includes everything in the Organization tier, for the Organization and the affiliates named in the Order. It also allows External Use of up to ten complete charts or tables, unless the Order states another number, in the Organization's own materials, such as reports, websites, impact and inclusion reports, recruiting and employer-branding content, investor and board materials, press releases and conference talks. External Use must follow section 7. When the External Use term ends, you may not start new External Use, but material already published may remain available in its published form.

4. What every tier may do

Within the scope of your tier, you may:

  1. download, store, read, search, annotate and print the Licensed Materials;
  2. keep one backup copy that no one outside your tier can access;
  3. discuss the findings and describe them in your own words;
  4. cite and quote the Paid Edition under section 6; and
  5. show one complete chart or table from the Paid Edition in any one Non-Public Presentation, with the credit in section 6.2. Organization and Enterprise licences allow more under section 3.

The Paid Edition is licensed, not sold. No ownership, and no right to redistribute, passes with the purchase.

5. Named readers and reassignment

Single Reader and Team licences are for the individuals named in the Order. When an organization has paid and a Licensed Reader leaves it, changes role or no longer needs access, the organization may reassign that place to another individual by emailing partnerships@womentech.net with the new reader's name and email. We will send a new file stamped with the new name, and the previous reader must stop using and delete their copy.

Places may be reassigned permanently. They may not be shared, rotated or used to give access to more people than the tier allows.

6. Quotation and citation

6.1 Permitted quotation

In each separate work, such as a research paper, thesis, dissertation, article, book, report, website, newsletter, teaching slides, conference talk, podcast or video, including a commercially published work, you may use:

  • up to 300 words in total quoted from the Paid Edition's text; and
  • up to five individual findings or data points.

Quotation must be occasional, not systematic, and must support your own commentary, analysis, reporting, teaching or research. It must not reproduce the essential substance of the Paid Edition, replace the need to obtain it, or be spread across a series of works to get around these limits. Complete charts, tables, pages, appendices, the survey instrument and longer extracts are not covered, except as sections 3 and 4 allow. You may always describe a finding in your own words.

6.2 Credit

Give a reasonably prominent credit wherever the format allows:

Women AI Builders and WomenTech Network. (2026). The State of Women in AI 2026. WomenTech LLC. https://womenaibuilders.org/state-of-women-in-ai-2026

Short form: "Source: The State of Women in AI 2026, Women AI Builders and WomenTech Network", with a link to the landing page. Add the edition and version you used where the format allows. Link to the landing page, never to your file or a download link.

A credit does not mean that WomenTech, Women AI Builders, WomenTech Network or any respondent endorses your work, its author or its conclusions.

7. Rules for External Use

When charts, tables or findings appear in External Use under an Enterprise licence or a written permission, you must:

  1. show the short credit with each chart or table and, where the format allows, link to the landing page;
  2. keep each chart's and table's data, labels and meaning unchanged (resizing and restyling are fine);
  3. present findings accurately and in context, state that the study is from 2026, and describe the people surveyed as the report does, as women active in tech and AI communities, not as all women in AI;
  4. use our names and logos only in the credit, with no co-branding and no suggestion that we endorse you, your products or your services;
  5. not make our findings the main subject of an advertisement or press release, or use them to compare products or services, without our written approval; and
  6. update or remove a finding in digital materials within a reasonable time after we tell you that it has been materially corrected.

8. AI tools

  • Single Reader and Team: Licensed Readers may use a Private AI Tool, accessible only to them, to read, search, summarize or translate the Licensed Materials for their own work.
  • Organization and Enterprise: you may load the Licensed Materials into a Private AI Tool or internal knowledge system that only Authorized Users can access, for Internal Use.
  • All tiers: you may not use the Licensed Materials to train, fine-tune or evaluate an AI model, or put them into a public or third-party AI service that may retain them, train on them or make them available to others. AI-generated text that reproduces or closely paraphrases the Licensed Materials counts as quotation and, when used outside your tier, must follow sections 6 and 7.

9. What you may not do

Except as these terms, a written permission or applicable law allow, you may not:

  1. forward, email, upload, post, publish, distribute, sell, rent, lend or sublicense the Licensed Materials, or a substantial part of them, to anyone outside your tier;
  2. place them on a public website, public repository or file-sharing service, or on any system that people outside your tier can access;
  3. reproduce, republish, translate or adapt a complete or substantial part, including complete charts, tables, pages, appendices or the survey instrument;
  4. systematically extract findings or data to build a dataset, database, benchmark, directory, competing report, paid product or recurring content service;
  5. use scraping, bots or other automated means to access, copy or extract the Licensed Materials;
  6. remove or obscure a copyright notice, the name or order reference stamped on your file or other rights information, or get around an access control;
  7. try to identify any survey respondent, or link answers to a person or employer;
  8. alter a quotation or finding in a misleading way, misrepresent the methodology or present the research as your own; or
  9. use the Paid Edition, or the Women AI Builders or WomenTech Network names, to suggest sponsorship, certification or endorsement.

10. Other licences and permissions

To arrange a Team or Enterprise licence, or any use your tier does not cover, email partnerships@womentech.net with the material, purpose, audience, format, territory and duration. We aim to reply within three business days. Permission must be in writing; silence is not permission.

By agreement, we also offer:

  • chart and table licences for a specific external publication;
  • distribution and reprint licences, for example to give the Paid Edition to customers, members or event attendees;
  • library, e-reserve and course licences, including access for students;
  • academic and nonprofit terms;
  • press copies for journalists, with permission to use charts in coverage;
  • translations and adaptations; and
  • custom aggregated data tables within the study's confidentiality rules. Row-level or raw respondent data is never licensed.

Use in AI training or in AI products is not licensed under these terms.

11. Public Materials, the Community Edition and excluded material

Public Materials may be linked to and shared unmodified, with credit, under the notice shown with them. Their availability does not make the Paid Edition, its charts or tables, or its download link free to distribute.

Community Edition. Your licence also lets you use the Community Edition within the scope of your tier, in addition to what the Community Edition Terms allow everyone.

Respondent Quotations. WomenTech grants no rights in Respondent Quotations, wherever they appear, including on the landing page. Any use of them is your responsibility under applicable law, and you must not attribute one to a named or identifiable person.

Third-party material. These terms grant no rights in photographs, logos (including partner logos), trademarks or other third-party material.

12. Ownership and reserved rights

WomenTech and its licensors keep all rights not expressly granted. Copyright and, where they apply, database and other rights protect the Paid Edition's original text, analysis, selection and arrangement, and its charts, tables and graphics.

This licence does not claim ownership of facts, ideas or public-domain material. You may cite a fact, but copying the Paid Edition's protected expression or systematically extracting its compilation remains subject to this licence and applicable law.

Women AI Builders and WomenTech Network, and their names and logos, are brands of WomenTech LLC. No trademark licence is granted except for the credit in section 6.2.

13. Corrections and editions

We may issue corrections or a replacement file. A replacement supersedes the earlier file for future quotation. Cite the edition and version you used, and do not knowingly keep publishing a finding after we tell you that it has been materially corrected.

A licence for the 2026 edition does not include later annual editions, raw data, custom analysis or a different tier.

14. Delivery, durable copy and cancellation

We deliver the Paid Edition by email to the Licensed Reader, or to the Organization's delivery contact named in the Order: on the release date for pre-orders, and after payment otherwise. Each file carries the Licensed Reader's or the Organization's name and the order reference.

We send a copy of these terms, in the version you accepted, with your order confirmation. Keep it for your records.

If you buy as a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may cancel within 14 days of your order. If you asked at checkout for delivery within that period and acknowledged that you would lose the right to cancel, the right ends when delivery begins. This does not affect any other right you have under the law where you live.

15. Term and termination

Each licence lasts for the term in section 3 unless it ends earlier under this section. If you breach these terms, we may ask you to fix the breach. A licence ends immediately if you distribute the Licensed Materials without permission, resell them, extract them systematically, get around an access control or use them for AI training.

When a licence ends, you must stop using and delete the Licensed Materials, except for one copy that the law requires you to keep. Quotation you lawfully published before then may stay published if it continues to follow section 6.

16. Disclaimer and liability

The Paid Edition is general research, not legal, financial, investment, employment, compliance or other professional advice. Its findings reflect the stated sample, questions, method and field period, rest on self-reported answers, and should not be generalized beyond those limits. We do not promise that it is complete, error-free or suitable for a particular decision.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Licensed Materials are provided "as is", WomenTech disclaims implied warranties, and WomenTech's total liability arising from an Order or these terms will not exceed the amount paid under that Order. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

17. Rights the law gives you

Nothing in this licence limits a right that applicable law makes non-waivable, including fair use, fair dealing, lawful quotation or the use of unprotected facts. Where such a right permits more than section 6, the law controls to the extent of the conflict. The limits in section 6 are permission from WomenTech; they do not mean that every use beyond them is unlawful.

18. General

The Order controls the tier, the Licensed Readers or Organization, the price and any term; these terms control how the Licensed Materials may be used. A written licence addendum signed by WomenTech controls if it expressly conflicts with these terms. For checkout purchases, the Stripe receipt and Checkout Session form part of the Order record but do not expand your rights.

You may not assign or transfer your licence except as section 5 allows. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest continue in effect and that provision applies to the maximum lawful extent. Not enforcing a provision once is not a waiver.

We may publish new versions of these terms for future Orders. The version you accepted continues to govern your Order unless you agree otherwise.
